Inhibition of adult T-cell leukemia cell proliferation by polymerized proanthocyanidin from blueberry leaves through JAK proteolysis

Tomonaga Ichikawa et al.

Summary: The highly polymerized proanthocyanidin component from blueberry leaves has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of HTLV-1-infected and ATL cells by binding to heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) and promoting the degradation of JAK protein through proteasome-dependent proteolysis. The findings suggest that it has great potential as a preventive and therapeutic agent.

The Antileukemic Effect of Xestoquinone, A Marine-Derived Polycyclic Quinone-Type Metabolite, Is Mediated through ROS-Induced Inhibition of HSP-90

Kuan-Chih Wang et al.

Summary: Xestoquinone, a marine metabolite with reported antitumor effect, demonstrated cytotoxic activity against hematological cancer cells through induction of apoptosis. In vitro and in vivo studies confirmed its potential as an antileukemic drug lead, inhibiting topoisomerase activity and tumor growth. Molecular docking and assays supported its catalytic inhibitory activity, suggesting multifaceted targeting of leukemia cancer cells.
