Effect of Intravenous Tirofiban vs Placebo Before Endovascular Thrombectomy on Functional Outcomes in Large Vessel Occlusion Stroke The RESCUE BT Randomized Clinical Trial

Zhongming Qiu et al.

Summary: This study assessed the efficacy and adverse events of intravenous tirofiban before endovascular thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke secondary to large vessel occlusion. The findings showed no significant difference in disability severity at 90 days between the tirofiban and placebo groups, suggesting that intravenous tirofiban may not be beneficial for acute ischemic stroke patients undergoing endovascular therapy.

Prior antiplatelet therapy in patients undergoing endovascular treatment for acute ischemic stroke: Results from the MR CLEAN Registry

Rob A. van de Graaf et al.

Summary: This study compared safety and efficacy outcomes after endovascular treatment in patients with and without prior antiplatelet therapy. The results showed no association between prior antiplatelet therapy and the risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage, as well as no impact on functional outcome, reperfusion, or mortality. Further research through a randomized clinical trial is needed to determine the potential effects of antiplatelet therapy on clinical outcomes.

Concentrating stroke care provision in the Czech Republic: The establishment of Stroke Centres in 2011 has led to improved outcomes*

Lucie Bryndova et al.

Summary: This article describes the policy processes that have led to the reorganization of stroke care in the Czech Republic since 2011, with 13 Comprehensive and 32 Primary Stroke Centers now providing care. The reform implementation has been supported by factors such as mandatory reporting of quality indicators and the introduction of a benchmarking system. Positive trends have been observed in the number of patients receiving thrombolysis, with the Czech Republic ranking highly in Europe for thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomies per population. Proper implementation processes, stakeholder involvement, and continuous benchmarking are highlighted as essential for successful stroke care outcomes.

Safety and efficacy of oral antiplatelet for patients who had acute ischaemic stroke undergoing endovascular therapy

Xiaochuan Huo et al.

Summary: Oral antiplatelet therapy prior to endovascular therapy for acute ischaemic stroke patients is safe and may lead to better clinical outcomes, with dual antiplatelet therapy showing superior efficacy and lower mortality risk compared to single antiplatelet therapy.
