Carbon-Nitride Popcorn-A Novel Catalyst Prepared by Self-Propagating Combustion of Nitrogen-Rich Triazenes

Jinchao Ma et al.

Summary: A self-propagating combustion synthesis method was reported for the preparation of novel porous non-graphitic polymeric carbon nitrides (PCNs) using nitrogen-rich triazene-based precursors. The combustion behavior and morphology of the resulted PCNs were found to be highly dependent on the terminal functional groups in the precursors. The highly porous PCN5 exhibited excellent catalytic activity and was further evaluated for its potential application in solid composite propellant.

Thermal decomposition and combustion characteristics of Al/AP/HTPB propellant

Jifei Yuan et al.

Summary: In this study, the thermal decomposition, ignition, and combustion properties of Al/AP/HTPB propellant were investigated. The combustion process was divided into three stages, with the flame development stage lasting longer. Increasing pressure decreased ignition delay time and significantly increased burning rate. The combustion products consisted of three types, with Al oxidation following a diffusion reaction mechanism. Agglomerates had low combustion efficiency under experimental conditions, and a 2-D pocket-like structure was observed on the propellant surface.

Atomic structures and electronic properties of Cr-doped ZnO(10(1)over-bar0) surfaces

Wugen Huang et al.

Summary: The atomic structures and electronic properties of Cr-doped ZnO(10 (1) over bar0) surfaces were investigated using a combined approach of STM and XPS, revealing the presence of isolated Cr atoms or Cr substituting Zn atoms. Thermal treatments above 600 K facilitated the redistribution of Cr atoms into the ZnO lattice, indicating a strong interaction between Cr and ZnO. Adsorption of CO at 78 K showed no preference for Cr3+ sites on the ZnO surface lattice, while re-dispersion of Cr atoms caused a significant band bending and negative XPS peak shifts.
