Extended dynamic mode decomposition for two paradigms of non-linear dynamical systems

John Leventides et al.

Summary: In this study, the Koopman operator theory and Extended Dynamic Mode Decomposition are applied to two non-linear dynamical systems. The first system is the 3 x + 1-system, which is discrete and follows the Collatz conjecture. The second system is the SIR-model, which is continuous and describes the evolution of a disease in a population. The Koopman operator captures the dynamics of non-linear systems, but it is infinite dimensional. Therefore, finite dimensional linear systems are approximated to analyze these systems, providing insights and predictions for the 3 x + 1-problem and SIR-model.

Reconstruction and prediction of rising bubble by Lagrange DMD in data-driven

Yuhui Yin et al.

Summary: This paper aims to predict the 2D bubble rising process using a data-driven method and improve the modeling ability of Lagrangian DMD. In the simple case without bubble deformation, Lagrangian DMD shows significantly better reconstruction and prediction results than DMD. However, in a complex case with bubble deformation, Lagrangian DMD cannot provide satisfactory prediction results. After adding velocity prediction to the Lagrangian DMD method, the prediction of bubble rising has been improved.

Multivariable advanced nonlinear controller for bioethanol production in a non-isothermal fermentation bioreactor

Malek G. Hajaya et al.

Summary: This study developed a multi-input, multi-output advanced nonlinear control structure for a continuous, non-isothermal, constant volume fermentation bioreactor. Feedback linearization control was used to regulate glucose concentration, and backstepping control was used to regulate reactor temperature. A novel estimator for biomass concentration was incorporated to provide online estimates for the unmeasurable state variable. The control structure demonstrated the ability to efficiently establish a combination of dynamic and fixed set points despite disturbances in the bioreactor feed temperature and glucose concentration.

A soft sensor regression model for complex chemical process based on generative adversarial nets and vine copula

Hongmin Chen et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a soft sensor method based on generative adversarial nets and vine copula regression (GAN-VCR) to predict key variables in complex industrial processes. The method uses generative adversarial nets to generate samples with a similar distribution to the labeled samples and employs a sample selection strategy based on the generalized local probability index to enhance the training samples. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method.
