Rosmarinic Acid Delays Tomato Fruit Ripening by Regulating Ripening-Associated Traits

Changan Zhu et al.

Summary: Rosmarinic acid (RA) treatment in postharvest significantly delayed ripening, reduced ethylene production, inhibited color change, promoted amino acid accumulation, and enhanced antioxidant activity in tomato fruits. These findings indicate a novel function of RA in fruit ripening, offering an attractive strategy to manage and improve the quality of tomato fruits.

The Story of Auxin-Binding Protein 1 (ABP1)

Richard Napier

Summary: ABP1, the auxin-binding protein, has been debated as a candidate receptor for auxin signaling. Despite its ability to bind auxin, its relevance to plant development and signaling remains to be fully defined. Research has shown associations between ABP1 and various auxin-induced activities, but studies also suggest that its auxin-binding capacity may not be physiologically relevant.

Carbon Dioxide Pretreatment and Cold Storage Synergistically Delay Tomato Ripening through Transcriptional Change in Ethylene-Related Genes and Respiration-Related Metabolism

Me-Hea Park et al.

Summary: The study showed that pretreatment with 30% or 60% CO2 before cold storage can delay tomato ripening and improve quality, even after transfer to ambient conditions. It also reduces pits and significantly suppresses decay rate. Transcriptome and metabolome analyses indicated the involvement of CO2-responsive genes or metabolites in regulating fruit quality through ethylene biosynthesis and signaling pathways.

Tomato SIPP2C5 Is Involve in the Regulation of Fruit Development and Ripening

Juan Wang et al.

Summary: The study verified that tomato SIPP2CS acts as a negative regulator in ABA signaling during fruit development. SIPP2C5 interacts with ABA receptors and kinases to regulate fruit development, maturation, and quality parameters. Overexpression or suppression of SIPP2C5 alters plant sensitivity to ABA and affects fruit ripening time.

Multifaceted roles of nitric oxide in tomato fruit ripening: NO-induced metabolic rewiring and consequences for fruit quality traits

Rafael Zuccarelli et al.

Summary: The study found that NO has a significant impact on the ripening process of tomato fruit, including regulating ripening-related genes, affecting metabolite content, and limiting ethylene production. Additionally, NO intensified oxidative stress and nitro-oxidative events, impacting the biosynthesis of compounds such as ascorbate, flavonoids, and lycopene.
