Effect of uranium deficiency on normal and superconducting properties in unconventional superconductor UTe2

Y. Haga et al.

Summary: Single crystals of the unconventional superconductor UTe2 have been grown under different conditions, resulting in different superconducting transition temperatures and normal state properties. The stoichiometry of the samples has been accurately characterized, with the superconducting samples being nearly stoichiometric and the non-superconducting sample deviating significantly. The superconducting UTe2 exhibits partially gapped large density of states in the normal state, while the non-superconducting sample is characterized by a relatively large electronic specific heat.

First Observation of the de Haas-van Alphen Effect and Fermi Surfaces in the Unconventional Superconductor UTe2

Dai Aoki et al.

Summary: This study reports the first observation of the de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) effect in the novel spin-triplet superconductor UTe2. The researchers found that UTe2 has two types of cylindrical Fermi surfaces with strong corrugation, and the angular dependence of the dHvA frequencies is in good agreement with the calculated results.

Metastable phase of UTe2 formed under high pressure above 5 GPa

Larissa Q. Huston et al.

Summary: This study investigates the crystal structure changes of UTe2 under different pressures using X-ray diffraction. The results show that UTe2 undergoes a transformation from orthorhombic to body-centered tetragonal structure at a pressure of 5 GPa. This transition is accompanied by an increase in the shortest distance between uranium atoms and a decrease in volume.

Enhancement and Discontinuity of Effective Mass through the First-Order Metamagnetic Transition in UTe2

Atsushi Miyake et al.

Summary: This study investigates the metamagnetic transitions in the novel spin-triplet superconductor UTe2, where reentrant superconductivity is detected. The field dependence of the Sommerfeld coefficient gamma through the first-order metamagnetic transition is obtained. Effective mass towards Hm is significantly enhanced in both field directions, playing a crucial role in reentrant superconductivity.

Magnetic reshuffling and feedback on superconductivity in UTe2 under pressure

M. Valiska et al.

Summary: The study investigated the electrical resistivity of UTe2 under pressure and magnetic fields, showing a field-enhancement of superconductivity near the critical pressure coinciding with a boost of effective mass related to the collapse of metamagnetic and critical fields at the boundaries of the correlated paramagnetic regime and magnetically-ordered phase. Beyond the critical pressure, field-induced transitions precede the destruction of the magnetically-ordered phase, suggesting an antiferromagnetic nature.

Low-dimensional antiferromagnetic fluctuations in the heavy-fermion paramagnetic ladder compound UTe2

W. Knafo et al.

Summary: Inelastic neutron scattering measurements on a single crystal of heavy-fermion paramagnet UTe2 revealed the presence of antiferromagnetic fluctuations with specific characteristics. Weak correlations and saturation temperature of the magnetic fluctuations were highlighted as key findings in this study, providing constraints for models of magnetically mediated superconductivity in UTe2.
