Association Between Serum Myostatin Levels, Hospital Mortality, and Muscle Mass and Strength Following ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction

Paula G. S. Oliveira et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the association between serum myostatin levels and muscle mass and strength, as well as hospital mortality, in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The results showed that lower myostatin levels were associated with higher mortality rates and serum myostatin concentrations positively correlated with muscle mass and strength in STEMI patients.

Association of serum adiponectin and myostatin levels with skeletal muscle in patients with obesity: A cross-sectional study

Satoshi Kurose et al.

Summary: The study found that levels of adiponectin and myostatin in the body are associated with body composition and metabolic parameters in obese patients. Adiponectin levels are related to decreased muscle strength, while myostatin levels may be regulated by the percentage of body weight from appendicular lean mass.

Predicting 90-Day Outcome After Thrombectomy: Baseline-Adjusted 24-Hour NIHSS Is More Powerful Than NIHSS Score Change

Eva A. Mistry et al.

Summary: In this study of endovascular therapy-treated patients, it was found that adjusting for baseline, a 24-hour NIHSS had the highest predictive power for 90-day outcomes. A dichotomous 24-hour NIHSS score of <= 7 was the second-best predictor for favorable outcomes.
