Polyphenylalanine ionic liquid for the extraction and determination of Allura red in food samples

Vortex-assisted sequential liquid-phase micro-extraction of E127 and E129 in foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals

Summary: In this study, a sequential liquid-phase micro-extraction (LPME) method using 1-pentanol and ion-pair agent was developed for the separation and determination of Erythrosine (E127) and Allura red (E129) in foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals. The methods involved micro-extraction using 1-pentanol for E127 and an alkanol-based ion-pair solvent with tetra-pentyl ammonium bromide for E129. The parameters of the methods were optimized, and the extraction mechanisms were elucidated. The proposed technique was validated and applied to commercially available samples in Turkish markets and pharmacies.

Spectrophotometric determination of traces allura red in environmental samples after a deep eutectic solvent-based microextraction

Micelle mediated selective extraction of lead after its complexation with thionine in aqueous samples prior to FAAS determination

Summary: A micelle mediated phase separation and preconcentration process was developed for the determination of trace level Pb (II) ions in water samples using flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) after chelation with thionine. The selectivity of the method was validated in the presence of five different possible chelatable metal ions with thionine ligand. The parameters of the method, including pH, surfactant concentration, ligand concentration, reaction temperature, incubation time and matrix ions, were optimized. The method showed good reliability with a relative standard deviation (RSD %) of less than 5% and had a detection limit (LOD) and quantitation limit (LOQ) of 1.5 and 5 μg/L, respectively.

A green approach for in-tube solid phase microextraction of acidic red dyes from juice samples using chitosan/poly vinyl alcohol electrospun nanofibers

Summary: In this research, a green approach of filled in-tube solid phase microextraction (FIT-SPME) followed by HPLC-UV was introduced for extraction and determination of acidic red dyes in juice samples. The method achieved high extraction efficiency by coating stainless-steel wires with chitosan and polyvinyl alcohol to form nanofibers with high surface area and porosity. The optimized parameters and experimental design approaches ensured good analytical performance of the method, which was successfully applied to the analysis of different beverage samples.

Furthermore, the recommended procedure was successfully applied to foodstuff samples for the determination of AR, BB and SY contents.
