The tabular Strathbogie batholith in central Victoria

G. N. Phillips et al.

Summary: The southern boundary of the Strathbogie batholith in central Victoria consists of two east-west striking sections and one north-south striking section. Field mapping reveals topographic relief and intervals of steep-dipping and near-horizontal contacts. The interpreted roof and floor of the batholith indicate a thickness of up to 350 m. The emplacement of the granite was influenced by pre-existing anisotropies and slight variations in magma pressure.

Unraveling the emplacement history of a Portuguese post-tectonic Variscan pluton using magnetic fabrics and gravimetry

Claudia Cruz et al.

Summary: The Lamas de Olo pluton in northern Portugal is a post-tectonic Variscan pluton comprising three different biotite granites. Magnetic fabric studies show that the magnetite and biotite fabrics are coaxial, indicating passive ascent of the magmas through fractures. Gravimetric studies reveal it is an asymmetric wedge-shaped pluton controlled by multiple fault systems.

Imaging the roots of a post-collisional pluton: Implications for the voluminous Cambrian magmatism in the Aracuai orogen (Brazil)

G. F. Souza Junior et al.

Summary: The Cambrian Santa Angelica intrusive complex in SE Brazil consists of two lobes with concentric fabric and bull's eyes shapes, intruding during the post-collisional phase of the Aracuai orogen. While described as magmatic internally, the complex shows solid-state deformation at its borders and an internal shear zone. This study suggests a reverse diapiric mechanism due to the negative buoyancy of mafic nuclei during crystallization.
