Corrosion Protection Oxide Scale Formed on Surface of Fe-Ni-M (M = Al, Cr, Cu) Inert Anode for Molten Salt Electrolysis

Myungjae Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, the mechanical and thermal properties of spinel oxides were investigated using first-principles calculations. Based on the calculated results, it was found that the oxide scale of the Fe-Ni-Al inert anode is the most suitable for molten salt electrolysis applications.

Phase equilibria of VCrMnFeCo high entropy alloys

Gustavo Bertoli et al.

Summary: This study systematically explores the VCrMnFeCo system and finds that the formation of the σ phase is often observed in this compositional space, making it essential to predict its formation in alloy design. The phase equilibria were studied using the CALPHAD method and the Tsai criteria, which showed some discrepancies in predictions and partial accuracy compared to experimental characterization. This work contributes to a better understanding of the compositional fields in 3d transition metal HEAs.

High-entropy ceramics: Present status, challenges, and a look forward

Huimin Xiang et al.

Summary: High-entropy ceramics are solid solutions of inorganic compounds with diverse crystal and electronic structures, providing large space for property tuning through band structure and phonon engineering. In addition to traditional strengthening, hardening, and low thermal conductivity, HECs exhibit new properties such as colossal dielectric constant and super ionic conductivity. Challenges in processing, characterization, and property predictions are highlighted, along with future directions for material exploration and in-depth characterization.
