Temperature-Dependent Delocalization of Oxygen Vacancies in La-Substituted CeO2

Minal Gupta et al.

Summary: The signature of oxygen ion conductivity in hydro-thermally synthesized Ce(1-x)LaxO(2-delta)(0 ≤ x ≤ 0.50) solid-electrolyte samples has been investigated. The temperature-dependent softening of oxygen defect mode in Raman spectroscopy and broadening of a feature related to oxygen defects in optical absorption spectroscopy can be efficient tools to probe the signature of oxygen ion conductivity.

Role of Oxygen Vacancy Ordering and Channel Formation in Tuning Intercalation Pseudocapacitance in Mo Single-Ion-Implanted CeO2-x Nanoflakes

Xiaoran Zheng et al.

Summary: Metal oxide pseudocapacitors with low electrical and ionic conductivities can be enhanced through defect engineering and architectural design approaches. This study successfully demonstrated intercalation pseudocapacitance in CeO2-x, optimizing charge transfer, capacitance and kinetics through regulation of defect concentrations. Moreover, ion implantation and reduction processes were found to significantly increase specific capacitance and retention, while ordered oxygen vacancies enabled atomic channels for ion intercalation, enhancing both capacitance performance and electrical conductivities.
