Summary: We report a modular catalytic method for the enantioselective synthesis of chiral allylboronates from abundant feedstock chemicals. This method shows advantages in terms of the use of inexpensive catalyst, mild reaction conditions, wide substrate scope, scalability, and practicality. The utility of the method is demonstrated by the rapid synthesis of key intermediates of complex drug molecules. Copper-Catalyzed Coupling of Alkyl Vicinal Bis(boronic Esters) to an Array of Electrophiles

Ningxin Xu et al.

Summary: This study discovered that a neighboring boronate group in the substrate can accelerate transmetalation to copper, enabling site-selective cross-couplings of organoboronic esters. The method is practical and allows for coupling between vicinal bis(boronic esters) and allyl, alkynyl, propargyl electrophiles, and simple protons. Summary: This study presents a strategy for constructing a wide variety of trisubstituted stereocenters through enantioselective, catalytic 1,2-boronate rearrangements. The chiral building blocks produced in these reactions can undergo two sequential stereospecific elaborations to generate a wide assortment of trisubstituted stereocenters. The enantioselective reaction is catalyzed by a lithium-isothiourea-boronate complex, which promotes rearrangement through a dual-lithium-induced chloride abstraction orchestrated by Lewis basic functionality on the catalyst scaffold.
