Development and Challenge of Fluorescent Probes for Bioimaging Applications: From Visualization to Diagnosis

Yanchen Li et al.

Summary: Fluorescent probes play important roles in bioimaging, offering advantages such as real-time imaging, in-depth visualization, and minimal damage to biological samples. Among them, UV-visible fluorescent probes have become mainstream due to their available structure, simple synthesis, versatility, and wide application. This review focuses on the structure, design strategies, advantages, representative probes, and latest discoveries of UV-visible fluorescent probes developed in the past 3-5 years based on several fluorophores, and provides insights into future development trends in bioimaging and diagnostics. It is expected to facilitate the development of more powerful fluorescent sensors for broader and exciting applications in the future.

Bimodal Imaging of Mouse Peripheral Nerves with Chlorin Tracers

Junior Gonzales et al.

Summary: Due to the potential severity and persistence of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, there is an urgent need for a tool to quantitatively measure this nerve damage. This study demonstrates a novel approach to localize peripheral nerves using in-cell heat imaging and fluorescence imaging, laying the groundwork for future clinical diagnostics and treatments.

A hybrid erbium(III)-bacteriochlorin near-infrared probe for multiplexed biomedical imaging

Ting Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a fluorophore system based on molecular erbium(III)-bacteriochlorin complexes was developed for multiplexed bioimaging, allowing efficient imaging of deep tissues in living animals. This system demonstrated excitation/emission-multiplexed capability and enabled visualization of dynamic biological processes in living mice. It offers a robust multiplexed NIR imaging with high contrast and spatial resolution for various applications, such as fluorescence-guided surgery and intravital microscopy.

Pharmacological Inhibition of the Voltage-Gated Sodium Channel Nav1.7 Alleviates Chronic Visceral Pain in a Rodent Model of Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Yan Jiang et al.

Summary: Tsp1a, a novel inhibitor of hNa(v)1.7 isolated from tarantula venom, potently inhibits the channel's activity and completely reverses chronic visceral hypersensitivity in a mouse model of irritable bowel syndrome, suggesting that pharmacological inhibition of hNa(v)1.7 at peripheral sensory nerve endings could be a viable approach for alleviating pain in patients suffering from chronic visceral pain.
