Summary: Preferentially expressed antigen in melanoma (PRAME) is a useful marker in distinguishing malignant melanoma from its mimics. This study found that PRAME is variably expressed in different types of malignancies, but it is strongly expressed in nonmelanocytic poorly differentiated carcinomas and sarcomas. Although the use of PRAME as an immunohistochemical marker in diagnostic surgical pathology is limited, immunohistochemistry is reliable and cost-effective for detecting PRAME-positive malignancies for potential immunotherapy.
