Visible-light-driven double-shell SnIn4S8/TiO2 heterostructure with enhanced photocatalytic activity for MO removal and Cr(VI) cleanup

Summary: A novel visible-light-driven SnIn4S8 nanosheet/TiO2 hollow sphere heterojunction with intimate contact structure was successfully constructed by hydrothermal process. The SISTOHS heterostructures exhibited outstanding photocatalytic performance and the optimized sample SISTOHS2 showed the highest photodegradation and photoreduction efficiencies. The rate constants of photodegradation and photoreduction over SISTOHS2 were significantly higher than those of the control samples. The systemic characterizations revealed that the improvement of photocatalytic performance was attributed to the double-shell interface, which enhanced the interaction between SnIn4S8 and TiO2, as well as the increased visible light harvesting ability and abundant reactive sites.

The proposed Z-scheme photocatalytic mechanism and degradation paths offer new approaches for the preparation of core-shell composites with broad applications in environmental remediation.

Adsorption behavior of methylene blue on regenerable composite Cu-BTC@AG

Summary: In this study, a porous foam-like composite Cu-BTC@agarose (Cu-BTC@AG) was prepared by compounding high crystallinity Cu-BTC with agarose to solve the problem of difficult recovery when Cu-BTC is used in water treatment. The adsorption behavior of Cu-BTC@AG towards methylene blue (MB) in wastewater was systematically studied, and the adsorption mechanism was explored using isothermal adsorption and adsorption kinetics models. The results showed that the adsorption capacity of Cu-BTC@AG for MB increased with increasing MB initial concentration and reached equilibrium within 120 minutes.
