Effect of substrate temperatures on structural, optical and dispersion energy parameters of RF sputtered nickel oxide thin films

K. S. Usha et al.

Summary: Thin films of nickel oxide (NiO) were prepared by RF magnetron sputtering at different substrate temperatures, and the effects of temperature on their structural, morphological, optical, and vibrational properties were investigated. It was found that an increase in substrate temperature led to higher crystallinity and smoother surface morphology of the NiO films. The optical transmittance and bandgap of the films also varied with substrate temperature. The optical and dispersion energy parameters of NiO films were affected by temperature as well. The results suggest the potential application of NiO films in optoelectronic and electrochromic devices.

Influence of copper contact thickness on Cu/ZnO nanorods-enhanced Schottky diode

Kevin Ooi Zheng et al.

Summary: In this study, ZnO nanorods (NRs) were synthesized on an ITO glass substrate using the chemical bath deposition technique. Cu metal contacts were then deposited on top of the ZnO NRs by magnetron sputtering to form a Schottky diode. The morphological, structural, and optical characteristics of the ZnO NRs were investigated, as well as the effect of different thicknesses of the Cu metal contacts on the electrical properties. The results showed that the metal thickness had an impact on the electrical properties of ZnO and the Schottky barrier height could be tuned by varying the metal contact thickness.

Majid Shirvani et al.

Summary: The influence of zinc oxide nanorods (ZnO NRs) arrangement as the electron transport layer (ETL) on the photovoltaic performance of inverted structure polymer solar cells (PSCs) was investigated. Two arrangements of ZnO NRs were synthesized on the indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode using electrochemical techniques. It was found that the flower-like ZnO NRs prepared by the chronoamperometry method exhibited higher charge mobility, lower charge resistance, and higher optical transparency compared to the vertically grown ZnO NRs prepared by the chronopotentiometry method. The PSC based on the flower-like ZnO NRs showed significantly improved efficiency and stability.
