Summary: In this study, rare earth samarium (Sm3+) substituted Ni-Cu spinel ferrites were successfully synthesized using the citrate induced sol-gel auto combustion technique. The structural, optical, magnetic, and dielectric properties of these ferrites were investigated. The results revealed that the structure of the ferrites changed with the samarium substitution, and the samples exhibited semiconductor properties.

Ammonia gas sensing and magnetic permeability of enhanced surface area and high porosity lanthanum substituted Co-Zn nano ferrites

Anil B. Mugutkar et al.

Summary: This work reports the magnetic permeability and ammonia gas sensing characteristics of La(3+)substituted Co-Zn nano ferrites. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy confirm the single-phase spinel structure and the morphology of nanocrystals. Nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveal the porous structure and oxidation states of the ferrites. Gas sensing performance analysis shows that the Co-Zn-La ferrite with controlled La composition can be used as an effective ammonia gas sensing material.

Tuning the structural, optical and magnetic properties of NiCuZn (Ni0.4Cu0.3Zn0.3Fe2O4) spinel ferrites by Nb2O5 additive

A. D. Patil et al.

Summary: Ni0.4Cu0.3Zn0.3Fe2O4 ferrites with various compositions of Nb2O5 additive were synthesized by the sol-gel method. The addition of Nb2O5 increased the lattice parameter values and resulted in a single-phase spinel structure. Scanning electron microscope images showed spherical and cubic shapes of the ferrite samples with few agglomerations. Elemental analysis confirmed the stoichiometric occurrence of constituent elements. Raman and UV-Visible diffused reflectance spectroscopy results indicated that Nb2O5 additive can tune the optical and magnetic properties of the ferrite.

A. Hashhash et al.

Summary: Rare-earth ions RE3+ doped Sr/Ba-hexaferrite nanoparticles were prepared using the sol-gel auto-combustion method, and the effects of the dopant on structural and morphological properties were investigated. The addition of RE3+ ions resulted in the sedimentation of ions on the grain boundaries, inhibiting grain growth and leading to nanoparticles with sizes ranging from 35.22-51.9 nm.

TiO2-Doped Ni0.4Cu0.3Zn0.3Fe2O4 Nanoparticles for Enhanced Structural and Magnetic Properties

Asha D. Patil et al.

Summary: TiO2-doped nanocrystalline Ni0.4Cu0.3Zn0.3Fe2O4 ferrites were synthesized using the sol-gel method, exhibiting cubic spinel structure and semiconducting properties with increasing TiO2 doping level. The addition of TiO2 led to a decrease in lattice parameter, band gap energy, and saturation magnetization of the ferrites, confirming the soft magnetic behavior at room temperature. The presence of a nonmagnetic TiO2 secondary phase was confirmed by Mossbauer study, contributing to the decrease in magnetic behavior of the doped ferrites.
