Determination of idiopathic female infertility from infrared spectra of follicle fluid combined with gonadotrophin levels, multivariate analysis and machine learning methods

Pawel Jakubczyk et al.

Summary: By analyzing the FTIR spectra of follicular fluid, it is possible to distinguish idiopathic female infertility from the control group. Our findings suggest that idiopathic female infertility is associated with higher levels of lipids and lower levels of amides in follicular fluid. Additionally, the six machine learning methods used in this study showed classification accuracies ranging from 93.75% to 100% depending on the algorithm used.

Differential of cholangiocarcinoma disease using Raman spectroscopy combined with multivariate analysis

Joanna Depciuch et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of Raman spectroscopy as a promising analytical tool in medical diagnostics and a method to distinguish between healthy individuals and those with cholangiocarcinoma. The results showed that there were differences in the Raman spectra of amino acids, proteins, and lipid vibrations between healthy individuals and cancer patients. Specific ranges in the Raman spectra were identified as effective in distinguishing between the two groups.

Identification of polycystic ovary syndrome from blood serum using hormone levels via Raman spectroscopy and multivariate analysis

Zozan Guleken et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential diagnostic tool of Raman spectroscopy for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and found that Raman shifts of amides and CH2, CH3 lipid groups could be potential PCOS markers. The study also revealed a strong correlation between hormones and lipids, as well as between hormones and protein functional groups in PCOS women. These findings provide new insights into the diagnosis and treatment of PCOS.

Lipid droplets in mammalian eggs are utilized during embryonic diapause

Roberta Arena et al.

Summary: Embryonic diapause is a temporary arrest of an embryo at the blastocyst stage while waiting for the uterine receptivity signal to implant. Lipid droplets (LDs) play a crucial role in maintaining embryonic diapause and are essential for the survival of diapausing embryos. The presence of LDs in oocytes of various mammals positively correlates with their species-specific length of diapause.

Diagnosis and Management of Infertility A Review

Sandra Ann Carson et al.

Summary: Approximately 12.7% of reproductive age women in the US seek treatment for infertility each year. Infertility is defined as failure to achieve pregnancy after 12 months of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. Lifestyle factors like smoking and obesity can adversely affect fertility. Ovulatory disorders and male factor infertility are common causes, with polycystic ovary syndrome and unexplained infertility also prevalent. Various treatment options are available, including ovulation induction and in vitro fertilization (IVF), with age being a significant factor in decision-making.

Zozan Guleken et al.

Summary: This study focuses on investigating the metabolic processes and differentiation in protein secondary structure among colon and gastric cancer patients compared to healthy controls using biochemistry and FTIR methods. Significant reductions in functional group amounts in cancer patients' blood serum, as well as differences in protein structure between colon and gastric cancers were observed. Additionally, differences in serum levels of specific cancer markers and protein amide regions were identified in colon and gastric cancer patients.
