Sorption behavior of uranium from Sulfate media using purolite A400 as a strong base anion Exchange resin

Ahmed M. Masoud

Summary: The study investigated the sorption characteristics of uranium onto a strongly basic anion exchanger, Purolite A400. The results showed that Purolite A400 is a suitable material for pre-concentration of uranium (VI) species from sulfate leach liquor, with an adsorption capacity of nearly 117.6 mg/g under optimum conditions.

Solid-liquid extraction of uranium from industrial phosphoric acid using macroporous cation exchange resins: MTC1600H, MTS9500, and MTS9570

Mohamed H. Taha

Summary: The research focuses on applying Purolite commercial resins for uranium adsorption from crude dihydrate phosphoric acid, showing that chelating resins exhibit higher sorption efficiency compared to cationic exchange resin. Various parameters' impact on sorption efficiency was investigated, and kinetic, isotherms, and thermodynamics analysis was performed.

Amino-functionalised cross-linked polyacrylamide for the adsorption of U(VI) ions from contaminated aqueous solutions

Ahmed A. Younes et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the effective removal of U(VI) ions from aqueous solutions using amino-functionalised cross-linked polyacrylamide adsorbent, achieving a maximum adsorption capacity of 68.6 mg/g under specific conditions. Experimental results show that the adsorption process follows the Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second order kinetic mechanism.

Cement kiln dust as an alternative technique for wastewater treatment

Amany F. Hasaballah et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the high removal efficiency of cement kiln dust in wastewater treatment, especially for BOD, COD, and heavy metals. Compared to the common coagulant alum, cement kiln dust showed similar treatment effects and can be considered as an environmentally friendly alternative for low to moderate wastewater.

Modeling uranium (II) removal from aqueous solution by micellar enhanced ultrafiltration using response surface methodology

Hesam Shojaei et al.

Summary: Response surface methodology was used to model and optimize the flux and removal efficiency of uranium via micellar enhanced ultrafiltration using SDS as a surfactant. The study found that SDS concentration had a significant impact on uranium removal efficiency, with concentrations above the critical micelle concentration leading to significantly increased removal rates.

Nanocellulose: a bioadsorbent for chemical contaminant remediation

Mohd Nor Faiz Norrrahim et al.

Summary: Chemical contaminants, particularly heavy metals, dyes, and organic oils, pose a serious threat to the environment and human health. Nanocellulose, as a high-performance bioadsorbent, exhibits promising characteristics such as high adsorption capacity, high mechanical strength, hydrophilic surface chemistry, renewability, and biodegradability. Research has shown that nanocellulose has higher adsorption capacity and better binding affinity than other similar materials at the macroscale in the remediation of chemical contaminants.
