Accuracy of impression-making methods in edentulous arches: An in vitro study encompassing conventional and digital methods

Jiayi Li et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of eight impression-making methods for edentulous arches and determine the effects of using a 3-dimensionally printed polyetheretherketone (PEEK) scanning aid on the accuracy of intraoral scanners. The results showed that intraoral scanners demonstrated accuracy comparable with that of conventional impression materials, and the PEEK-based scanning aid improved the accuracy of the intraoral scanners compared to conventional impression materials.

The Effect of Scanning Strategy on Intraoral Scanner's Accuracy

Nikolaos A. Gavounelis et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of scanning strategy on the accuracy and precision of intraoral scanner-acquired impressions. The results showed that the recommended scanning strategy A was significantly more accurate than strategies B and C, with all three strategies achieving clinically acceptable accuracy.

Accuracy of intraoral scanning in completely and partially edentulous maxillary and mandibular jaws: an in vitro analysis

Martin Schimmel et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the accuracy of intraoral scanning in partially and completely edentulous arch models, finding high accuracy in vitro. Operator experience had minimal influence on the accuracy of the scans, with differences in trueness and precision seen among different models and operators.

Accuracy of Intraoral Scanners for Recording the Denture Bearing Areas: A Systematic Review

Vanya Rasaie et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed clinical and laboratory studies on the accuracy of intraoral scanners in recording denture bearing areas. The results showed that while intraoral scanners were comparable to conventional techniques in recording bony structures, they had limitations in accurately registering mobile tissues. Factors such as presence of a marker, larger scanner head size, and specific scanning techniques appeared to improve the accuracy of digital impressions.
