Molecular Hinges Stabilize Formamidinium-Based Perovskite Solar Cells with Compressive Strain

Congbo Shi et al.

Summary: This study reports the stabilization of Formamidinium (FA)-based perovskite solar cells using a chemical modifier called BMI. By chemically bonding and compressing the perovskite lattice, the BMI modifier improves both the stability and power conversion efficiency of the solar cells. The findings demonstrate the synergistic effects of chemical interactions and physical regulations in enhancing the performance of perovskite-based optoelectronic devices.

Stability Improvement of Perovskite Homojunction by Inhibiting the Diffusion of Doping Defects

Jun Ji et al.

Summary: The perovskite homojunctions can enhance the efficiency of solar cells by promoting the separation and transportation of photocarriers. However, they suffer from poor stability due to ion defects. This study reveals that donor defects in the n-type layer can compensate for acceptor defects in the p-type layer, leading to the weakening of the built-in electric field. By introducing phenethylammonium iodide, the diffusion of defects can be inhibited, resulting in improved stability and efficiency of perovskite homojunction solar cells.

24.8%-efficient planar perovskite solar cells via ligand-engineered TiO2 deposition

Hao Huang et al.

Summary: In this research, a ligand-engineered deposition strategy was proposed to improve the performance of planar perovskite solar cells. By using tartaric acid as the ligand, particle aggregation was effectively inhibited, and the interfacial contact impedance was reduced while the electron extraction was enhanced. The obtained PCE of 24.8% with a fill factor exceeding 0.83 is the highest reported among TiO2-based planar PSCs so far.

Summary: In this study, PEGDA was introduced into SnO2 dispersion to enhance the photovoltaic performance and stability of pero-SCs. The PEGDA-modified SnO2 acted as an ETL, improving carrier transport and matching energy levels with perovskite. Additionally, PEGDA passivated defects at the perovskite-ETL interface, leading to a high power conversion efficiency and long-term stability.

Removal of residual compositions by powder engineering for high efficiency formamidinium-based perovskite solar cells with operation lifetime over 2000 h

Guoqing Tong et al.

Summary: Using pre-synthesized crystalline perovskite with perfect stoichiometry can control and reduce the density of defects in perovskite solar cells, resulting in an increase in efficiency. Pre-synthesized perovskite precursors showed a significant reduction in unwanted intermediate chemical compositions, leading to higher efficiencies in PSCs. Long-term stability measurements also demonstrated the effectiveness of using pre-synthesized perovskite in improving the performance of PSCs.

Defect compensation in formamidinium-caesium perovskites for highly efficient solar mini-modules with improved photostability

Yehao Deng et al.

Summary: The addition of excessive AX in formamidinium-caesium mixed-cation perovskites improves their photostability by compensating iodide vacancies and suppressing ion migration and defects generation during long-term illumination. This approach impedes the generation of hole traps and phase segregation, ultimately enhancing the stability and efficiency of the perovskite mini-modules.
