Ultrafine palladium nanoparticles supported on mesoporous silica: An outstanding catalytic activity for hydrogen production from dodecahydro-N-ethylcarbazole

Yindong Wang et al.

Summary: A negatively charged silica surface (-Si-O-) was formed on SBA-15 by treating it with alkali, and ultrafine Pd nanoparticles (Pd NPs) were supported on SBA-15 via NaBH4 reduction. The as-prepared Pd/SBA15 catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic performance for dehydrogenation of H12-NEC. Characterization results revealed that Pd NPs were uniformly dispersed on the pore surface of SBA-15 with high Pd dispersion, and the coordination of Pd NPs with hydroxyl on the SBA-15 surface improved catalytic stability.

Surface Engineering Materials of Superhydrophobic Sponges for Oil/Water Separation: A Review

Ebenezer Kobina Sam et al.

Summary: The use of sponge-based materials in oil/water separation has attracted significant attention due to their easy fabrication, recyclability, environmental friendliness, and low cost. By modifying these sponges with low surface energy materials and nano/micro hierarchical roughness, their wettability can be changed to superhydrophobicity/superoleophilicity, making them applicable in oil/water separation. Materials such as organosilicons, carbon-based materials, oxides, and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been used for modifying sponges, and the potential future applications of these materials in oil/water separation are discussed.

Caffeic acid polymer rapidly modified sponge with excellent anti-oil-adhesion property and efficient separation of oil-in-water emulsions

Huicai Wang et al.

Summary: This study reports a technology that utilizes oxidants and diamines to promote the polymerization of caffeic acid, leading to the preparation of a superhydrophilic melamine sponge with excellent properties. By employing silica nanoparticles to enhance roughness, the sponge showed high efficiency in emulsion separation and prevention of oil contamination, providing a promising method for treating challenging emulsified wastewater.

Nonstoichiometric Yttrium Hydride-Promoted Reversible Hydrogen Storage in a Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier

Yong Wu et al.

Summary: A novel cobalt-based catalyst promoted by nonstoichiometric yttrium hydride was developed to achieve high-efficiency, reversible hydrogen storage in NEC, with good kinetics. This catalyst is the first non-noble metal catalyst with high activity for NEC hydrogenation and dehydrogenation reactions, suggesting new approaches for versatile hydrogen transfer reactions using conventional metal hydrides.
