Solid experimental evidence for reverse intersystem crossing from high-lying triplet states: A case study on hot exciton mechanism in OLEDs

Liangjian Chen et al.

Summary: This study successfully visualizes the reverse intersystem crossing process of hot excitons in OLEDs using a technique combining transient photoluminescence and magneto-electroluminescence measurements. The hot exciton process opens an additional energy transfer channel, which can improve the utilization of excitons in OLEDs.

In Situ Quantifying the Physical Parameters Determining the Efficiency of OLEDs Relying on Triplet-Triplet Annihilation Up-Conversion

Shu Xiao et al.

Summary: This article establishes an in situ method to quantify the parameters of triplet excitons and relevant TTA process in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Through transient electroluminescence technique, the physical parameters can be quantified in situ. The study finds that minimizing triplet quenching and maximizing TTA rate help lower J(TTA), and device efficiency is improved by weakening triplet quenching through blending two materials.

Disorder-Induced Dispersive Magneto-Electroluminescence of Blue Emitters in Organic Light Emitting Diodes

Xin Pan et al.

Summary: The study focused on the disorder-induced inhomogeneity in blue-fluorescent-based organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on mixtures of host and guest molecules. Magneto-electroluminescence response was used to analyze the unique non-Lorentzian response influenced by a dispersive parameter alpha (<1). The inhomogeneity was found to be governed by intrinsic disorder in the device active layer, with an increase in alpha at low temperature indicating that the organic layer becomes more ordered.

Study of Photocarriers Lifetime Distribution in a-Si:H via Magneto-photoconductivity and Magneto-Photoluminescence

Ryan McLaughlin et al.

Summary: In this study, the magneto-photoluminescence (MPL) and magneto-photoconductivity (MPC) of localized and delocalized photocarriers in amorphous hydrogenated silicon (a-Si:H) films and devices are investigated. The responses are caused by spin sublevel mixing in the photogenerated electron-hole pairs, which affects their recombination and dissociation rates. The disorder in a-Si:H films leads to a dispersive field response described by a unique dispersive parameter alpha, which provides the electron-hole lifetime distribution. The study also reveals the localization of photocarriers induced by prolonged illumination, and the subsequent decrease of localization upon annealing, which can be used to assess optoelectronic device degradation.
