UV-Visible photovoltaic detector based on biomaterial-inorganic semiconductor in the propolis/n-Si heterojunction configuration

Fatma Yildirim et al.

Summary: In this study, it was shown that propolis can be effectively used in self-powered photodetectors on n-Si, exhibiting long-term stability and high performance. The surface morphology of propolis was characterized using SEM-EDX and XRD analyses, and elemental analysis was performed using ICP-MS spectroscopy. The propolis/nSi photovoltaic detector demonstrated excellent diode characteristics, with a rectification ratio of 23815 at +/- 2 V. The detector achieved a maximum responsivity of 0.113 A/W in the UV wavelength of 365 nm and 0.018 A/W in visible light intensity of 150 mW/cm2. The maximum detectivities were 4.04 x 109 Jones at 365 nm UV light and 4.17 x 108 Jones in visible light. It is anticipated that the self-powered propolis/n-Si photovoltaic detector has potential applications in future optoelectronic devices.

Enhancement in optoelectronic properties of lanthanum co-doped CdO: Zn thin films for TCO applications

R. Sarath babu et al.

Summary: This work reports on the structural, electrical, optical, and photosensing properties of La and Zn co-doped CdO thin films. The incorporation of La in CdO:Zn reduces the crystallite size and changes the surface morphology of the thin film samples. The co-doped thin film with 1.5 wt% of La shows low resistivity and a better figure of merit. It also exhibits higher photocurrent and ideality factor values, as well as improved photosensing properties.

Fatih Unal et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel approach to optoelectronic applications by introducing the coronene/CdO hybrid heterojunction. The heterojunction was fabricated through the electrochemical deposition and thermal evaporation methods. Optical and electrical analyses were conducted, revealing high absorption coefficient, visible region energy gap, and negative differential resistance behavior. The heterojunction also exhibited self-powered diode behavior and light sensitivity. Photodetector and photovoltaic characteristics were investigated, demonstrating promising performance in terms of photocurrent, responsivity, and specific detectivity. The study concludes that the coronene/CdO hybrid heterojunction holds great potential for optoelectronic applications.

Schottky barrier heights of defect-free metal/ZnO, CdO, MgO, and SrO interfaces

Jiaqi Chen et al.

Summary: The study investigates the Schottky barrier heights (SBHs) of defect-free interfaces of ZnO, CdO, MgO, and SrO with various metals using density functional supercell calculations. It is found that the p-type SBHs decrease linearly with increasing metal work function, and the pinning factor S increases with oxide ionicity. Additionally, a significant shift of SBHs from non-polar to polar interfaces is observed, which can be explained by an interfacial dipole.
