Effect of graphene oxide doping on the room temperature shear and dynamic rheological behaviour of PVDF

Mit Rita Goswami et al.

Summary: Poly (vinylidene fluoride) (GO/PVDF) nanocomposites were prepared by dispersing graphene oxide (GO) sheets in PVDF/THF and DMF solution. The addition of GO increased the crystallinity of the nanocomposites and exhibited shear-thinning to discontinuous shear thickening behavior. Dynamic rheology and relaxation frequency and time measurements confirmed the viscoelastic behavior of the nanocomposites induced by GO doping.

Summary: The interaction between the hydroxyl groups on the surface of magnetite and PVDF chains stabilizes the system and leads to the phase transition of the polymer. Different carboxylic acid modifications have varying impacts on the extent of the phase transition, with hexanoic acid grafting showing the most significant boosting effect.

Rapid Microwave Method for Synthesis of Iron Oxide Particles under Specific Conditions

Ivana Mitar et al.

Summary: Microwave technology offers numerous advantages over traditional experiments, including reduced reaction time, improved process control, and higher level of repeatability. This study focuses on microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis of hematite particles and investigates the impact of cationic surfactant CTAB on the composition, size, and shape of the final product. The presence of CTAB was found to affect the transformation process of goethite to hematite at 200 degrees C but not at 250 degrees C.

Tuning of shear thickening behavior and elastic strength of polyvinylidene fluoride via doping of ZnO-graphene

Mit Rita Goswami et al.

Summary: ZnO rice-like structures were grafted onto graphene sheets through rapid microwave synthesis, resulting in enhanced beta-phase content in PVDF polymer nanocomposites. The addition of ZnO-G dopant transformed the PVDF matrix from discontinuous shear thickening to continuous shear thickening behavior, possibly due to hydrocluster formation and their interaction with the dopant. Rheological testing showed that the PNCs exhibited extended linear viscoelastic behavior with high elastic modulus and low viscous modulus, making them suitable for applications in various fields, including mechanical and soft body armor.
