Electrical Charge Coupling Dominates the Hysteresis Effect of Halide Perovskite Devices

Juan Bisquert

Summary: Hysteresis effects in ionic-electronic devices can be utilized to develop switching memory devices for information storage and brain-like computation. Halide perovskite devices exhibit frequent hysteresis in current-voltage curves, which can be used to construct effective memristors. By introducing capacitive coupling in the slow relaxation variable, the extended neuron-style model is able to explain the transition from capacitor to inductor in impedance spectroscopy of MAPbBr solar cells and memristors in the dark, and it also generates new types of oscillating systems with a truly negative capacitance distinct from the usual inductive effect.

Regulating surface potential maximizes voltage in all-perovskite tandems

Hao Chen et al.

Summary: The open-circuit voltage deficit in wide-bandgap perovskite solar cells is larger than in perovskites with a bandgap of approximately 1.5 eV. The limiting factor for the open-circuit voltage is found to be recombination at the electron-transport-layer contact, resulting from inhomogeneous surface potential and poor energetic alignment. To address this issue, a new surface treatment using diammonium molecules is introduced to achieve a more uniform distribution of surface potential.

Intrinsic aging in mixed-cation lead halide perovskites

Fernando B. Minussi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the temporal aging of halide perovskites (HPs), specifically the system methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI(3)) partially substituted by guanidinium. The research demonstrates changes in the structural and microstructural parameters of HPs over time and finds that these changes are less pronounced in mixed compositions compared to pure MAPbI(3). While the band gap energy remains constant for all compositions, pure MAPbI(3) experiences changes in ionic conductivities, relaxation times, intrinsic charge carrier and trap densities, and carrier mobility. These findings shed light on developing more stable and efficient optoelectronic devices for long-term applications.
