Effect of aluminum modified mesoporous SBA-15 on surface properties and arsenic adsorption performance

Xueqing Liu et al.

Summary: Aluminum-modified SBA-15 mesoporous materials were synthesized and used as efficient adsorbents for As(V) removal. The effects of aluminum loading on the physicochemical properties of Al-x-SBA-15 were investigated, and it was found that an optimal loading of 10% resulted in the highest adsorption capacity. The adsorption kinetics were found to be controlled by both film diffusion and intraparticle diffusion.

Reactivity of Surface Lewis and Bronsted Acid Sites in Zeolite Catalysis: A Computational Case Study of DME Synthesis Using H-SSZ-13

Philipp Huber et al.

Summary: The stability and reactivity of Lewis and Bronsted acid sites on the H-SSZ-13 surface were investigated. By studying the conversion of methanol to dimethyl ether as a probe reaction, it was found that the formation mechanisms on Bronsted acid sites can be either concerted or stepwise, while the formation mechanism on Lewis acid sites is similar to the concerted mechanism. Additionally, the barriers for DME formation on Lewis acid sites are more similar to the concerted mechanism on Bronsted acid sites.

Effects of Al introduction methods for Al-SBA-15 on NiMoS active phase morphology and hydrodesulfurization reaction selectivities

Shujiao Jiang et al.

Summary: This study synthesized a series of Al-SBA-15 using different Al introduction methods and Si/Al molar ratios. The results showed that the introduction methods had a direct effect on the physical and chemical properties of Al-SBA-15. The DS method better maintained the pore structure advantages of Al-SBA-15, while the PG method introduced most of the Al atoms into the framework of the parent material.

Production of jet-fuel-range olefins via catalytic conversion of pentene and hexene over mesoporous Al-SBA-15 catalyst

Florent Dubray et al.

Summary: This study investigates the oligomerization of pentene and hexene mixtures using an acidic mesoporous Al-SBA-15 catalyst. The results show that the catalyst exhibits high selectivity to jet-fuel range products (>98%) at low-to-moderate conversions (<50%). Higher conversions result in lower selectivities. It is also found that adjusting the conversion is the primary way to control the selectivity of the catalyst.

Adsorption behavior of arsenic onto lignin-based biochar decorated with zinc

Jong-Hwan Park et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the adsorption properties of arsenic by lignin biochar decorated with zinc, showing that the resulting Z-LBC had a strong affinity for arsenic and could be used effectively for arsenic removal. The optimal isotherm and kinetic models for predicting the adsorption of arsenic by Z-LBC were the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second order kinetic model, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 20.2 mg/g.

Seyedeh Maryam Hafezian et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a novel material for highly efficient adsorption of sulforaphane based on functionalized SBA-15 nanoparticles. The introduction of amine functional groups on SBA-15 showed the highest adsorption efficiency of about 97% for sulforaphane. Langmuir and Redlich-Peterson isotherm models were the best-fitting models, while the pseudo-first-order kinetic model described the adsorption process well.

Properties of mesoporous Al-SBA-15 from one-pot hydrothermal synthesis with different aluminium precursors and catalytic performances in xylose conversion to furfural

Issaraporn Rakngam et al.

Summary: In this study, Al-incorporated SBA-15 materials were successfully prepared using a one-pot hydrothermal method, resulting in the generation of acid sites for catalysis. Despite similar Si/Al ratios, the different total acidities and Al tetrahedral coordination ratios of the samples were observed. Catalytic testing showed that all Al-SBA-15 samples exhibited better catalytic performance than pristine SBA-15.

Experimental and Numerical Study of Biochar Fixed Bed Column for the Adsorption of Arsenic from Aqueous Solutions

Maria Rosaria Boni et al.

Summary: The study conducted two laboratory tests to verify the suitability of Italian commercial biochar as an adsorbing material for arsenic in groundwater. While the results aligned with previous literature, they also showed that using a large amount of biochar does not necessarily improve efficiency. Additionally, factors such as the origin and grain size of the biochar can affect the efficiency of adsorption.
