Investigating the Role of Silver Oxidation State on the Thermodynamic Interactions between Xenon and Silver-Functionalized Zeolites

Kaitlin J. Coopersmith et al.

Summary: The effect of silver oxidation state on Xe adsorption in zeolites was studied using various techniques. It was found that silver reduction decreased the enthalpy and Henry's constant of Xe adsorption, while reoxidation restored 85% of the adsorption capacity.

Investigating the Role of Silver Oxidation State on the Thermodynamic Interactions between Xenon and Silver- Functionalized Zeolites

Kaitlin J. Coopersmith et al.

Summary: The effect of silver oxidation state on the thermodynamics of Xe sorption in silver-functionalized zeolites was investigated using inverse gas chromatography. Reduction of silver decreased the adsorption enthalpy and Henry's constant for Xe adsorption, while reoxidation restored the binding strength. Analysis of the zeolite microstructure indicated that reduction and reoxidation affected the material's properties. These findings provide valuable insights for the design of efficient noble gas adsorbents.

Xe Adsorption on Noble Metal Clusters: A Density Functional Theory Investigation

Arnaud Monpezat et al.

Summary: The adsorption mechanism of xenon on three noble metal clusters was studied using density functional theory within a generalized gradient approximation. The calculations showed that copper nanoparticles have the highest affinity for interaction with xenon, emphasizing the importance of considering spin-orbit coupling and Van der Waals effects.
