Summary: Due to its high energy density, good safety, availability, and low cost, the rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion battery is considered as a promising system for future energy storage devices. However, developing a zinc-ion battery with high capacity and long lifetime is still challenging due to the strong electrostatic interaction between Zn2+ and the host, as well as the proton/Zn2+ cointercalation in aqueous media. In this study, a novel electrode-electrolyte design is employed using a ZIF/Zn heterostructure as the host matrix and an organic zinc trifluoromethanesulfonate as the constituent of the electrolyte. The resulting zinc-ion battery exhibits a high specific capacity and retains 80% of its capacity after 330 cycles, thanks to the unique electrode-electrolyte interface created by the microstructural ZIF and hydrophobic trifluoromethanesulfonate anions.

Summary: This study investigates the application of Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) as electrode materials for aqueous ammonium ion batteries (AAIBs). A PANI/Na0.73Ni[Fe(CN)(6)](0.88) hybrid (PNFF) is synthesized using a covalent bond assisted engineering with in situ polyaniline (PANI) polymerization, combining the high conductivity of PANI and the stability of PBAs. It is found that the PANI content affects the electrochemical performance of PNFF, and an optimized PANI content results in enhanced reversible capacity and cycling stability. The ammonium storage mechanism of PNFF is investigated using in situ Raman and ex situ XPS/FTIR analysis, and a durable aqueous NH4+ full cell is assembled using a polyimide@MXene anode.
