Mechanochromic and AIE active fluorescent probes for solution and vapor phase detection of picric acid: Application of logic gate

Summary: In this study, organic probes with exceptional fluorescence properties and resistance to photobleaching were developed through simple synthetic methodology. The probes showed great potential for rapid detection of picric acid (PA) in aqueous solutions and vapor phase sensing. In addition, the probes demonstrated colorimetric detection of PA and could be used for quantitative recognition of PA in water samples. The findings highlight the importance of the development of organic probes for various applications.

Fluorescent and colorimetric sensors for selective detection of TNT and TNP explosives in aqueous medium through fluorescence emission enhancement mechanism

Summary: Due to increasing threats of terrorism and pollution, timely and rapid detection of 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) and 2,4,6trinitrotoluene (TNT) explosives has become paramount. In this study, fluorenone sensor 3 was synthesized and found to selectively detect TNP, while sensors 4 and 5 were designed for selective nanoscale detection of TNT. The sensing mechanisms were supported by various analyses such as H-1 NMR titration and computational methodologies.

AIEE active new fluorescent and colorimetric probes for solution and vapor phase detection of Nitrobenzene: A reversible mechanochromism and application of logic gate

These probes exhibited aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) and reversible mechanochromic properties due to their unique propeller-shaped geometry. Particularly, they showed highly sensitive detection of nitrobenzene (NB) in both solution and vapor phase. The fluorescence response of the probes allowed for the construction of logic gates.

The interaction mechanism with Fe3+ and 4-NP was investigated, and the sensors exhibited low limits of detection.
