Relationships Between WUT (Body Weight, Urine Color, and Thirst Level) Criteria and Urine Indices of Hydration Status

Yasuki Sekiguchi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationships between urine specific gravity, urine osmolality, and the WUT criteria, showing that when 3 WUT markers are met, urine specific gravity and urine osmolality were higher than euhydration cutoff points.

Hydration status, body composition, and anxiety status in aeronautical military personnel from Spain: a cross-sectional study

Alejandra Carretero-Krug et al.

Summary: The study found that 81% of Spanish aeronautical military men met hydration criteria, while 19% did not. Those who did not meet the criteria had poorer water balance and higher anxiety status. Hydration status was significantly related to body fat percentage, indicating a relationship between hydration status and body composition.

The Relationship between %BML, Urine Color, Thirst Level and Urine Indices of Hydration Status

Yasuki Sekiguchi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationships between urine-specific gravity (USG), urine osmolality (UOSM), and the WUT criteria. The findings suggest that when 3 markers indicate dehydration levels, both U-OSM and USG were greater than euhydrated cut points, and when 2 markers indicate dehydration levels, USG was higher than the euhydrated cut point. Additionally, U-OSM and USG were significantly lower when zero or 1 marker indicated dehydration levels, indicating that the WUT criteria are a useful tool to assess hydration status.
