Hyperacute prediction of functional outcome in spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage: systematic review and meta-analysis

Ulrike Hammerbeck et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between factors routinely available in the hyperacute care of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) patients and functional outcomes. The findings showed that multiple factors, including age, pre-morbid dependence, level of consciousness, stroke severity, hematoma volume, intraventricular hemorrhage, and deep location, were predictive of outcome. Other factors such as sex, medical history, admission blood results, and other imaging features were also associated with outcome.

Acute corticospinal tract diffusion tensor imaging predicts 6-month functional outcome after intracerebral haemorrhage

G. Schwarz et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between CST DTI metrics after ICH and 6-month functional outcome, as well as the potential improvement in predictive performance of the existing ICH score. The results showed that rFA and rMD were associated with 6-month mRS>2, and discrimination values varied among different variables. Combined models with DTI and non-DTI variables offered an improvement in discrimination.

Multi-shell Diffusion MRI Models for White Matter Characterization in Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

Marek J. Konieczny et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that DKI metrics had the strongest associations with processing speed performance in patients with cerebral small vessel disease. DTI and DKI metrics performed similarly in detecting disease progression, while NODDI metrics showed poorer reproducibility.

Peak Width of Skeletonized Mean Diffusivity as Neuroimaging Biomarker in Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy

N. Raposo et al.

Summary: Whole-brain network connectivity is a useful biomarker for cerebral amyloid angiopathy and related cognitive impairment. The peak width of skeletonized mean diffusivity is altered in cerebral amyloid angiopathy and associated with performance in processing speed, suggesting it may be a useful biomarker for cognitive assessment in this population.

Prediction of the motor prognosis with diffusion tensor imaging in hemorrhagic stroke: a meta-analysis

Min Cheol Chang et al.

Summary: A meta-analysis showed that the ratio of fractional anisotropy calculated from diffusion tensor imaging performed within 2 weeks or after 2 weeks of intracerebral hemorrhage onset was predictive of motor recovery. This indicates the potential of using DTI to predict motor outcomes after ICH, with further research needed for a more comprehensive understanding.

Acute intracerebral haemorrhage: diagnosis and management

Iain J. McGurgan et al.

Summary: Intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) accounts for half of the disability-adjusted life years lost due to stroke worldwide, and acute stroke unit care can improve outcomes for ICH patients. Prevention of complications, acute blood pressure lowering, and implementation of high-quality acute care measures all have a positive impact on the survival chances of ICH patients.
