A randomized clinical control study on the efficacy of three-dimensional upper limb robotic exoskeleton training in chronic stroke

Antonio Frisoli et al.

Summary: This study compares the effectiveness of robotic training and conventional therapy in stroke rehabilitation. The results show that robotic training leads to greater clinical and functional improvements. Additionally, robotic biomarkers extracted from the measurements have the potential to predict clinical outcomes.

Effects of control strategies on gait in robot-assisted post-stroke lower limb rehabilitation: a systematic review

Silvia Campagnini et al.

Summary: The study found that there is no clear preference for different control algorithms in improving gait parameters of stroke patients. Force control strategies are more commonly used in rigid devices in therapeutic scenarios, while position-controlled soft devices are more commonly used in assistive scenarios. Due to significant heterogeneity in performance metrics and study designs, the impact of different controllers on gait could not be evaluated.

The effect of visual and proprioceptive feedback on sensorimotor rhythms during BCI training

Hanna-Leena Halme et al.

Summary: This study measured neurophysiological changes in healthy subjects performing motor imagery-based BCI training using magnetoencephalography (MEG), comparing two different feedback modalities. The results showed that visual feedback enhanced gamma band activity in the visual cortex, while proprioceptive feedback increased power in the sensorimotor rhythms in the motor cortex.

Upper limb soft robotic wearable devices: a systematic review

Elena Bardi et al.

Summary: Soft robotic wearable devices, known as exosuits, have great potential for daily upper limb support as an alternative to rigid exoskeletons. This review explores the current approaches in design and production steps, focusing on different actuation types and intention detection strategies to support key joints such as elbow and shoulder.

Exploring New Potential Applications for Hand Exoskeletons: Power Grip to Assist Human Standing

Jorge A. Diez et al.

Summary: The hand exoskeleton technology can help users maintain balance while standing, but wearing the exoskeleton increases hand muscle activity. Lack of tactile feedback may lead to overcompensation in grasping, so future studies will focus on training users to wear the exoskeleton effectively.

Restoring Activities of Daily Living Using an EEG/EOG-Controlled Semiautonomous and Mobile Whole-Arm Exoskeleton in Chronic Stroke

Marius Nann et al.

Summary: This study aimed to test the feasibility, safety, and user-friendliness of stroke survivors using EEG/EOG-based brain/neural robotic control for daily tasks. The results showed that all chronic stroke patients were able to operate the system reliably and fluently, with no undesired side effects reported. Four participants rated the system as very user-friendly.
