M. Damej et al.

Summary: In this study, a new organic compound epoxy resin (TTA) was synthesized and used as a corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel C38 in 1 M HCl acid medium. The corrosion inhibition process was investigated using experimental and theoretical calculations. The results showed that TTA acted as a mixed type inhibitor, and its inhibitory efficiency increased with concentration. Additionally, the adsorption of TTA on the carbon steel surface followed Langmuir's adsorption isotherm.

Understanding functional group effect on corrosion inhibition efficiency of selected organic compounds

Humira Assad et al.

Summary: Organic compounds have significant efficiency in inhibiting corrosion on various metals and alloys by forming coatings to prevent corrosion. Organic complexes containing different heteroatoms, known as heterocycles, show good performance in suppressing aqueous corrosion. Predicting the efficiency of organic compounds as corrosion inhibitors can be based on the electron-donating and withdrawing capacity of substituents.

Connecting Gas-Phase Computational Chemistry to Condensed Phase Kinetic Modeling: The State-of-the-Art

Mariya Edeleva et al.

Summary: In recent decades, quantum chemical calculations have become more accurate, allowing for precise ranking of chemical reactivities and energy barriers, as well as reliable equilibrium and rate coefficients. This increased reliability of kinetic parameters supports predictive kinetic modeling studies, which take into account actual concentration changes during chemical processes. The guidelines presented in this contribution show how computational chemistry and chemical kinetics can be bridged, with case studies focusing on polymerization kinetics and material properties.
