Formation of carbon nanostructures on nickel acetate alcogel by CVD method and its OER electrocatalytic study in alkaline media

Zulfiqar Ali et al.

Summary: A simple method was developed to produce nickel-carbon nanotube nanocomposites using chemical vapor deposition with nickel acetate alcogel. By controlling the molar concentration of nickel in the alcogel, the growth of nickel nanoparticles on the CNTs was controlled, with higher concentrations leading to larger nickel particles composed of nanocrystals. The better oxygen evolution reaction performance of the sample with lower nickel concentration was attributed to the well-separated distribution of catalytic nickel nanoparticles on the electrically conductive CNTs.
