Chitosan hydrogel wrapped bimetallic nanoparticles based efficient catalysts for the catalytic removal of organic pollutants and hydrogen production

Summary: A novel catalytic system based on bimetallic nanoparticles entrapped chitosan hydrogel container (Cu-Ag/CH, Cu-Co/CH, Cu-Ni/CH) was prepared for efficient water treatment and H-2 generation, as well as reduction of organic pollutants. Among the catalysts, Cu-Co/CH showed superior performance in catalytic H-2 generation, while Cu-Ni/CH exhibited better efficiency in catalytic reduction of toxic contaminants.

Alginate biopolymer as a reactor container for copper oxide-tin oxide: Efficient nanocatalyst for reduction of different pollutants

Summary: Efficient and selective reduction of water pollutants is achieved by designing CuO-SnO2 nanomaterial wrapped in Alg/CuO-SnO2 hydrogel. The nanocatalysts exhibit high selectivity towards MB reduction and can enhance the reduction rate by optimizing catalyst amount and NaBH4 concentration. Moreover, Alg/CuO-SnO2 catalyst shows excellent reusability and efficiency in real samples.

Zn/Fe nanocomposite based efficient electrochemical sensor for the simultaneous detection of metal ions

Summary: An efficient electrochemical sensor was designed using zinc oxide doped iron oxide nanocomposite coated on a glassy carbon electrode for simultaneous detection of Cd(II), Pb(II), and Cu(II) in real water samples. The sensor exhibited strong sensing performance with higher sensitivity towards Pb(II) detection, making it a promising tool for low-level determination of toxic heavy metals. Further optimization of analytical parameters was conducted to investigate the detection of Cd(II), Pb(II), and Cu(II) in real samples, showing the potential for a simple and efficient sensing system.

Three-dimensional commercial-sponge-derived Co3O4@C catalysts for effective treatments of organic contaminants

Summary: This study utilized spongin-based scaffolds of commercial sponge origin for the preparation of novel catalysts through simple functionalization with cobalt, showing good activity and reusability in oxidation-reduction reactions. The materials prepared demonstrated a fibrous structure with open porous canals, allowing for good accessibility of substrates to the catalyst surfaces. The adaptability of spongin-based scaffolds in preparing biocarbons with high potential for various catalytic applications was proven.
