Investigating the potentials of TiVC MXenes as anode materials for Li-ion batteries by DFT calculations

Shi-Ping Huang et al.

Summary: The electronic properties and electrochemical performance of TiVC and TiVCT2 as lithium-ion anode materials were investigated using Density Functional Theory (DFT). It was found that some structures exhibited faster charge and discharge rates and high theoretical capacity, while the capacity significantly decreased when terminated with -F and -OH groups at the interface. O-TiVC, O-TiVCO2, and S-TiVCO2 were identified as suitable materials for lithium-ion batteries.

First-principles study of BC7 monolayer an ultra-high capacity anode for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries applications

K. Belasfar et al.

Summary: Through first-principles calculations, it is predicted that BC7 monolayer could be a promising anode material for lithium and sodium ion batteries, with high theoretical capacity and efficient ion adsorption characteristics. The low activation energy barrier and fast diffusion of ions on the BC7 monolayer surface suggest its potential for high-performance charge and discharge processes. Furthermore, the low average open-circuit voltage indicates the potential of BC7 monolayer as a suitable candidate for advanced battery technologies.

Muhammad Isa Khan et al.

Summary: By intercalating lithium into bilayer buckled borophene, the anode material showed improved adsorption energy, theoretical capacity, and diffusion barrier, while maintaining the metallic nature of borophene. The absence of volume expansion in fully lithiated structure, along with theoretical capacity of 1859 mAh/g, diffusion barrier of 80 eV, and OCV of 0.08 V, indicates the potential of bilayer b-borophene as a candidate for anode material in Li-ion batteries.
