The outcomes of interprofessional education in prelicensure nursing education: An integrative review

Summary: This article reviews the research on the impact of interprofessional education on prelicensure nursing students to guide curriculum development. The results indicate that the impact of interprofessional education should not only be measured through learners' perceptions, modifiable and nonmodifiable factors are associated with its effectiveness, and various instruments and methods can be used to measure outcomes.

Nurses' knowledge and confidence in recognizing and managing patients with sepsis: A multi-site cross-sectional study

Summary: This study examined registered nurses' knowledge and confidence in recognizing and managing sepsis, as well as identified factors that influenced their knowledge on sepsis. The findings showed that nurses had moderate levels of knowledge about sepsis and confidence in responding to septic patients. Factors such as job grade, nursing education level, and clinical work area were significant predictors of nurses' sepsis knowledge. The study highlights the need for stronger sepsis education and training programs, as well as the implementation of sepsis screening tools and care bundles to enhance nurses' knowledge and confidence in managing sepsis patients.

Artificial intelligence in virtual reality simulation for interprofessional communication training: Mixed method study

Summary: This study describes the development of an AI-enabled virtual reality simulation and evaluates nursing students' competencies and experiences in communicating with an AI medical doctor. The results show significant improvements in communication knowledge and self-efficacy after the learning. The AI-enabled VRS was generally well-accepted, but the human-like feature of the AI doctor received lower ratings. Insights were provided on improving the system.

The Effect of a Sepsis Interprofessional Education Using Virtual Patient Telesimulation on Sepsis Team Care in Clinical Practice: Mixed Methods Study

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of sepsis interprofessional education on medical and nursing students. The results showed that virtual telesimulation improved students' sepsis knowledge and team communication skills. The transfer of learning to clinical practice included a better understanding of each other's roles and the use of communication strategies. Although knowledge retention was not long-term, virtual telesimulation played a critical role in sepsis training.
