Two-wavelength excitation-driven robust operation of green up-conversion emission in Er3+-doped oxyfluoride glass-ceramic

Saihui Li et al.

Summary: Efficient optical modulation has great potential for optoelectronics applications, but the weak interaction between photons poses a strong obstacle. In this study, by simultaneously exciting different wavelengths, a fast-slow modulation of green up-conversion luminescence can be achieved in oxyfluoride glass ceramics. The findings show promise for emerging applications in all-optical switching.

Up-conversion luminescence and optical temperature sensing of Er3+, Yb3+ co-doped Gd2O3 phosphors with different F-/Ln3+

Zhenhua Li et al.

Summary: In this work, Er3+, Yb(3+)co-doped Gd2O3 phosphors were synthesized through a simple hydrothermal method, and the optimal doping concentration was investigated. The study revealed the influence of calcination temperature on the formation of self-assembled structures and the regulation of fluorescence intensity by adjusting the ratio of NH4F and lanthanoid nitrate. Additionally, the fluorescence intensity ratio based on thermally coupled energy levels and the sensitivity of optical temperature sensing were explored.

Summary: The study introduces anatase titania-coated plasmonic gold nanorods decorated with lanthanide-doped upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) for combinational photothermal and photodynamic therapy to treat cancer. The hybrid nanostructures show remarkable anticancer effect under NIR light, attributed to efficient radical formation and heat generation induced by localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). In vivo animal studies further confirm the tumor suppression ability of the hybrid nanomaterials through combinatorial photothermal and photodynamic effect.
