Understanding oxidative reaction of carbon nanoplatelets towards tailored physicochemical properties

Edwin T. Mombeshora et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of KMnO4 and NaNO3 weight ratios on the oxidation of carbon nanoplatelets, showing that different ratios of reagents had significant impacts on the oxygen content and carbon/oxygen ratio. The distribution of oxygen-containing groups on the surfaces of carbon nanoplatelets was found to vary with different weight ratios of reagents.

Carbon Lattice Structures in Nitrogen-Doped Reduced Graphene Oxide: Implications for Carbon-Based Electrical Conductivity

Ji Soo Roh et al.

Summary: This study intensively characterized the structure of nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide (NrGO) and investigated the impact of carbon defects on its electrical conductivity. Three different NrGO materials prepared by representative synthesis methods showed varying functional group distributions and sp(2) carbon lattice structures. The findings revealed a linear relationship between the logarithm of electrical conductivity and the aromaticity of the NrGO materials.

Experimental and theoretical study of solvent effect in graphene oxide

Valdemir Ludwig et al.

Summary: In this study, graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized and its vibrational properties were characterized for hydrated and lyophilized samples. Computational simulations showed a large polarization in the GO molecule due to strong hydrogen bonds formed between water molecules and oxygen functional groups. This led to broadening observed in the infrared and Raman spectra.
