Ag/Ga-doped ZnO/pyramidal silicon as a multifunctional surface-enhanced Raman scattering substrate

Tung-Hao Chang et al.

Summary: A high-performance SERS-active substrate with Ag nanoparticles deposited on pyramidal silicon with Ga-doped ZnO nanoneedles has been fabricated, showing remarkable SERS enhancement, good reproducibility, and long-term stability. The Ag/Ga-doped ZnO/pyramidal silicon geometry provides more hot spots and surface-active sites, making it superior to Ag/pyramidal silicon and Ag/silicon substrates for detecting drugs with low detection limits.

Solution-processed flexible broadband ZnO photodetector modified by Ag nanoparticles

N. P. Klochko et al.

Summary: In this study, a flexible broadband photodetector was fabricated using a cheap and scalable aqueous method called SILAR, where nanostructured zinc oxide films were deposited on polyimide substrates. The light-sensitive material ZnO/PI was obtained by creating defects in the nanostructured ZnO layer through post-treatment. Silver nanoparticles were then applied to enhance the photocurrent and improve the performance of the ZnO_Ag/PI light-sensitive material. The photodetector based on ZnO_Ag/PI exhibited better spectral responsivity, external quantum efficiency, and specific detectivity compared to previous studies on nanostructured zinc oxide photodetectors.

Flexible Transparent Heater Fabricated from Spray-Coated In:ZnO/Ag-NWs/In:ZnO Multilayers on Polyimide Foil

Rachmat Adhi Wibowo et al.

Summary: A flexible transparent heater with high transmittance and good conductivity is developed by using a sprayed composite architecture of silver nanowires and indium-doped zinc oxide layers. The low-temperature spray-pyrolysis process used for the zinc oxide layers ensures the thermal stability of the transparent polyimide substrate and the formation of compact and transparent layers. The resulting heater exhibits high temperature stability and fast heating response, and maintains good mechanical stability under different stresses. This research demonstrates the feasibility of large-scale and cost-effective production of high-performance transparent heaters using all-sprayed composite coatings.

Ag/AgCl sensitized n-type ZnO and p-type PANI composite as an active layer for hybrid solar cell application

Rajinder Singh et al.

Summary: A zinc oxide-based polyaniline composite was synthesized by in-situ polymerization and sensitized with silver/silver chloride particles to enhance the optoelectronic response. The sensitized composite was characterized, revealing the synergistic effects of annealing and sensitization. Various techniques including EDAX, HRTEM, FESEM, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, I-V characteristics, and cyclic voltammetry were used to investigate the elemental composition, electron transfer mechanism, molecule dipole moment and polarizability, and current enhancement properties of the sensitized composite.

Self-powered UV photodetector performance optimization based on Ag nanoparticles-encapsulated-ZnO nanorods by photo-deposition method

Sabah M. Mohammad et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized Ag NPs/ZnO NRs nanorods array using a simple and cost-effective hydrothermal technique combined with the photo-deposition method for the fabrication of self-power MSM UV photodetector device. The presence of Ag NPs was confirmed by notable changes in the morphological surface of ZnO NRs after the photo-deposition process. The photodetector with Ag NPs showed significantly enhanced conductivity and high performance, with a responsivity value of 42.79 A W-1 and an EQE of 13,436.06% at 15 V bias voltage.

An efficient hydrogen gas sensor based on hierarchical Ag/ZnO hollow microstructures

Sonalika Agarwal et al.

Summary: The design of hierarchical zinc oxide (ZnO) microstructures modified with silver (Ag) nanoparticles has been proven effective in enhancing hydrogen gas sensing performance. The Ag/ZnO hollow microstructures showed superior sensitivity, fast response and recovery time, as well as good stability, even at low hydrogen gas concentrations. This enhancement in sensing performance is attributed to the chemical and electronic sensitization effect of Ag nanoparticles, leading to a more sensitive sensor with improved selectivity.
