Installation of high-valence tungsten in MIL-125(Ti) for boosted photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Yijun Zhang et al.

Summary: By installing high-valence W6+ ions onto the Ti-oxo clusters of MIL-125(Ti), a W-O-Ti structure is formed, triggering metal-to-cluster charge transfer and enhancing light absorption. This optimized charge transfer process efficiently separates photogenerated electron-hole spatially, leading to an enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance.

ZnS/g-C3N4 heterojunction with Zn-vacancy for efficient hydrogen evolution in water splitting driven by visible light

Shaopeng Tian et al.

Summary: In this study, ZnS/g-C3N4 heterojunction structures were prepared using a rapid microwave method, resulting in efficient photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction with a high hydrogen production rate. The enhanced catalytic performance is attributed to the intimate interfacial contact between ZnS and g-C3N4, as well as the presence of Zn vacancies on the ZnS surface.

Constructing S-scheme 2D/0D g-C3N4/TiO2 NPs/MPs heterojunction with 2D-Ti3AlC2 MAX cocatalyst for photocatalytic CO2 reduction to CO/CH4 in fixed-bed and monolith photoreactors

Muhammad Tahir et al.

Summary: In this study, an exfoliated 2D MAX Ti3AlC2 conductive cocatalyst anchored with g-C3N4/TiO2 was investigated for CO2 photoreduction. The results showed that the combination of TiO2 NPs and the 2D Ti3AlC2 MAX structure achieved higher CH4 production. The composite material operated under a step-scheme photocatalytic mechanism, suppressing the recombination of useful electron and holes and providing a higher reduction potential for efficient CO2 conversion. The performance of the composite catalyst was further studied in a fixed-bed and monolith photoreactor, demonstrating increased CO production with monolithic support but reduced CH4 production.

Ascorbic acid functionalized CdS-ZnO core-shell nanorods with hydrogen spillover for greatly enhanced photocatalytic H2 evolution and outstanding photostability

Guotai Sun et al.

Summary: In this work, CdS-ZnO core-shell nanorods with controlled ZnO shell were synthesized, showing a high photocatalytic H-2 evolution rate attributed to factors such as the single-crystalline structure of CdS, Z-scheme mechanism formed between CdS and ZnO, and the introduced ascorbic acid. The homogeneous ZnO shell grown on the CdS core efficiently suppresses the photo-corrosion of CdS, providing outstanding photostability for CdS/ZnO.
