Qian Li et al.

Summary: This paper summarizes the kinetic models based on different kinetic measurement methods and rate-controlling steps for studying the kinetic mechanism of hydrogen storage alloys. The analysis procedures of kinetic experimental data and the effects of temperature, hydrogen pressure, and particle radius are explained in detail. The applications of the kinetic models for different hydrogen storage alloys are also introduced.

Enhanced hydrogen desorption properties of MgH2 by highly dispersed Ni: The role of in-situ hydrogenolysis of nickelocene in ball milling process

Cong Peng et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new approach to improve the sorption kinetics of magnesium hydride by catalyzing it with highly dispersed nickel nanoparticles. The experiment demonstrates that the in-situ formation of highly dispersed Ni nanoparticles in the MgH2 matrix significantly enhances the hydrogen desorption kinetics and retention rate of MgH2.

Phase transition induced by synchroshear in Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy

Kaiyun Xiang et al.

Summary: The phase transition of the eta-MgZn2 Laves phase from C14 to C15 structure in peak aged Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy was studied using atomic resolution high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADFSTEM) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The formation of a well-ordered C15 structural MgZn2 as an independent precipitate was observed for the first time in the alloy. The C15 structure was found to be transformed from the C14 structure through synchroshear activation and was associated with the formation of twin-like structures and five-fold symmetry twins.

Few-layer MXene Ti3C2Tx supported Ni@C nanoflakes as a catalyst for hydrogen desorption of MgH2

Cong Peng et al.

Summary: This research proposes a new approach to synthesize Ni@C/FL-Ti3C2Tx composite material, which can serve as a highly efficient catalyst for hydrogen desorption of MgH2, showing superior hydrogen desorption kinetics and excellent cycling stability. Further study reveals that the improvement of hydrogen storage properties is mainly attributed to the in situ formed Mg2NiH4 and metallic Ti nanoparticles, as well as the FL-Ti3C2Tx nanosheets themselves.
