Metal-organic framework-derived one-dimensional Pd@CeO2 catalysts with enhanced activity for methane oxidation

Mingwei Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, a unique 1D Pd@CeO2-BDC catalyst with rich oxygen vacancies and uniformly distributed PdO clusters and PdxCe1-xO2-s species on CeO2 surface was fabricated. The intense metal support interaction in the MOF skeleton resulted in the substitution of Ce4+ in CeO2 lattice by Pd atoms, thus significantly affecting the structure and electronic properties of the catalyst. The excellent reactivity of MOF-derived catalysts was attributed to lower energy barriers for methane activation on the reconstructed surfaces, as revealed by experimental and theoretical calculations. This research provides a new approach for the construction of lean methane combustion catalysts.

Preparation of γ-Al2O3/α-Al2O3 ceramic foams as catalyst carriers via the replica technique

Vladimir Shumilov et al.

Summary: This work presents an effective method for preparing open-cell ceramic foams using a polyurethane sponge replica technique, ceramic suspension, and polyvinyl alcohol solution. The ceramic carriers were modified with NaOH etching, colloidal silica coating, and gamma-alumina layer, followed by impregnation of an active catalytic phase (Pt). The catalytic properties and applicability of the foam catalysts were demonstrated through hydrogenation experiments.

Cobalt oxide confined in mesoporous SiO2 as effective catalyst for CO oxidation

Tao Liu et al.

Summary: The confinement effect of ordered mesoporous SiO2 was found to effectively inhibit the aggregation of CoOx, promoting the formation of Co(III) species and enhancing the catalytic activity for CO oxidation. Additionally, the pore size of the carrier SBA-15 played a significant role in the catalytic activity of CoOx.

Isaias B. Aragao et al.

Summary: PdCo bimetallic catalysts were effectively dispersed on activated carbon through incipient impregnation with the use of oleyamine and oleaic acid as capping agents. The resulting catalyst showed a marked reduction in CO light-off temperatures compared to monometallic formulations.

Elucidation of Pd modification effect on catalytic behaviors of γ-Al2O3-P catalysts toward ethanol dehydration and dehydrogenation

Chaowat Autthanit et al.

Summary: The catalytic ethanol dehydration and dehydrogenation over gamma-Al2O3-P catalysts with Pd modification resulted in high yields of diethyl ether and ethylene. Pd modification significantly affected the catalyst performance, leading to increased yields but also the production of acetaldehyde at low temperatures.
