Production of bioactive glass/chitosan scaffolds by freeze-gelation for optimized vancomycin delivery: Effectiveness of glass presence on controlling the drug release kinetics

Abeer M. El-Kady et al.

Summary: The study focused on creating vancomycin loaded composite scaffolds for bone treatment using inexpensive and biocompatible materials such as chitosan and bioactive glass. The scaffolds' degradation properties were controlled by modifying their glass contents, which also improved the kinetics of drug release. The presence of glass enhanced cell viability and the drug release pattern of the scaffolds was modulated into four stages compared to two stages for neat polymer scaffold.

Insights of doxorubicin loaded graphene quantum dots: Synthesis, DFT drug interactions, and cytotoxicity

Amany M. Sawy et al.

Summary: Carbon nanomaterials such as graphene quantum dots (GQDs) and graphene oxide nanosheets (GO) exhibit different drug loading capacities and release rates. GO showed the highest DOX loading capacity, while GQDs1 had the highest release rate. In terms of cytotoxicity and biosafety, GQDs1 was the most efficient in delivering DOX into cells with no noticeable cytotoxicity against WI-38 cells.

Polymeric Nanocarriers: A Transformation in Doxorubicin Therapies

Kamila Butowska et al.

Summary: Doxorubicin, a common anticancer agent, is effective but has serious side effects. Polymeric nanocarriers have shown promise in reducing these side effects by enabling selective drug delivery to cancer cells while minimizing toxicity to healthy tissues.
