Effects of Nitrogen-Doping or Alumina Films on Graphene as Anode Materials of Lithium-Ion Batteries Verified by In Situ XRD

Guang-Jhong Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, graphene was grown directly on nickel foil using CVD without additional catalysts. The graphene was then modified by nitrogen-doping and alumina deposition. Both N-doped graphene and Al2O3/graphene exhibited higher charge-specific capacity compared to regular graphene, which can be attributed to changes in their lattice structures.

Dual-functional graphene/carbon nanotubes thick film: Bidirectional thermal dissipation and electromagnetic shielding

Hui Jia et al.

Summary: A full-carbon dual-functional graphene/carbon nanotubes thick film with high heat flux was successfully prepared in this study, showing excellent thermal conductivity properties. After 2800 degrees C graphitization, C-C covalent bonds were formed between graphene sheets and CNTs, enhancing phonons transfer for thermal conduction. This new material holds great promise for spacecraft materials application.

Lightweight thermal interface materials based on hierarchically structured graphene paper with superior through-plane thermal conductivity

Jingyao Gao et al.

Summary: A strategy to construct heat pathways inside graphene paper for achieving high kappa perpendicular to was demonstrated by filtering graphene sheets of different lateral sizes simultaneously; the hierarchical structured graphene paper, composed of loosely stacked large graphene sheets intercalated by small graphene sheets, exhibited an improved kappa perpendicular to as high as 12.6 W m-1 K-1. In practical tests, the proposed all-graphene TIM paper showed a cooling efficiency enhancement of approximately 2.2 times compared to state-of-the-art TIMs, meeting the increasing heat dissipation requirements.

Preparation of graphene/Al composites with a lamellar structure by silane cross-linking graphene oxide

Bohan Wang et al.

Summary: The study successfully cross-linked graphene oxide (GO) using the silane coupling agent 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS) to prepare graphene/aluminum (Al) composites with improved mechanical properties. This approach of chemical modification can be applied to design other bioinspired materials.
