Improving the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-Cu dissimilar joints by ultrasonic dynamic-stationary shoulder friction stir welding

Jiaqing You et al.

Summary: In this study, an ultrasonic dynamic-stationary shoulder friction stir method was designed to reduce the IMC thickness and residual stress, thereby enhancing the mechanical properties of Al-Cu joints. The new method allowed for the elimination of microcracks, grain refinement, enhanced dynamic recrystallization, and reduced IMC thickness, resulting in high-strength Al-Cu dissimilar metals welding.

The mechanisms of underwater wet flux-cored arc welding assisted by ultrasonic frequency pulse high-current

Ji Chen et al.

Summary: An ultrasonic frequency pulse high-current (UFPHC) was used to improve the stability and appearance of underwater wet flux-cored arc welding. The UFPHC effectively suppressed arc extinguishing phenomenon, reduced spatter on the workpiece, and improved weld quality, while also reducing the hardness of the heat-affected zone.
