Compressive strength and environmental impact of sustainable blended cement with high-dosage Limestone and Calcined Clay (LC2)

Jing Yu et al.

Summary: Replacing half of the clinker with a blend of limestone powder and low-grade calcined clay has been proposed as a new economical and green cement, known as Limestone -Calcined Clay (LC2) cement. The study explored the feasibility of blending over 50% of LC2 in cement, achieving compressive strengths that meet the 28-day requirements for different cement grades.

Time-Dependent Model for Predicting Chloride Binding Capacity of Concrete with Crystalline Material

Lyna Prak et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop a time-dependent model for determining the chloride binding capacity of concrete with crystalline material under different conditions. The model, based on experimental analysis, showed satisfactory agreement with the predicted values falling within the R-squared values ranged from 0.842 to 0.982.

Performance and sustainability of quaternary composite paste comprising limestone, calcined Hwangtoh clay, and granulated blast furnace slag

Yi Han et al.

Summary: The cement industry is facing a serious challenge in reducing carbon emissions. This study used mineral admixtures to replace partial cement in order to lower CO2 emissions. Experimental results showed that the higher the content of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), the lower the compressive strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity, cumulative heat of hydration, and carbon emissions of the mixed paste, while the surface resistivity increased. The quaternary mixed paste demonstrated high durability and sustainability, with wide application prospects.

The relationship between the apparent diffusion coefficient and surface electrical resistivity of fly ash concrete

Shinhyu Kang et al.

Summary: Electrical resistivity can predict mass transport of ions in concrete, with a correlation found between resistivity and iodide diffusion coefficient. Practical methods to obtain desired diffusion coefficients based on resistivity were suggested despite the lack of a single relationship between the two factors.
