Effects of Shot Peening and Cavitation Peening on Properties of Surface Layer of Metallic Materials-A Short Review

Aleksander Swietlicki et al.

Summary: This paper reviews shot peening methods and analyzes their effects on the surface properties of metallic components. It also highlights the need to research the effects of peening, especially cavitation peening, on the anti-wear and corrosion performance of additively manufactured metallic materials. The paper emphasizes the lack of research on the treatment of additively manufactured metallic materials in cavitation peening and the absence of studies combining shot peening and cavitation peening in one hybrid process.

Preparing Thick Gradient Surface Layer in Cu-Zn Alloy via Ultrasonic Severe Surface Rolling for Strength-Ductility Balance

Qisheng Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, a thick GS surface layer with a thickness of 1.1 mm was successfully produced in Cu-38 wt.% Zn alloy using ultrasonic severe surface rolling technology. The results show that the volume fraction of the GS surface layer can be tailored to achieve a balance between strength and ductility in the alloy.

Research on the water cavitation peening process and mechanism of TC4 titanium alloy

Peiyu He et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the cavitation water shot peening strengthening of TC4 titanium alloy, with experiments and mechanistic studies conducted through various methods including macro-micro morphology, metallographic structure and XRD analysis, microhardness, and residual stress. The results show that as shot peening strength increases, surface roughness and depth of plastic deformation layer also increase, reaching saturation at 55-60 mu m; the depth of influence of microhardness and residual stress reaches 130 mu m; and surface grains refine and develop to the nanometer level.

Fabrication of repairable anti-corrosive superhydrophobic surfaces with micro-nano structures by ultrasonic cavitation

Fengjun Chen et al.

Summary: A novel superhydrophobic fabrication method based on ultrasonic cavitation was proposed in this study, which utilized cavitation bubbles to create a microstructure with high roughness and anchor SiO2 nanoparticles on the surface to form a micro-nano composite structure. The superhydrophobic surfaces exhibited excellent anti-corrosive durability and repairable properties.
