Predicting potential fishing grounds of ribbonfish (Trichiurus lepturus) in the north-eastern Arabian Sea, using remote sensing data

P. Abdul Azeez et al.

Summary: This study examined the spatio-temporal distribution and influencing factors of Ribbonfish in the north-eastern Arabian Sea through habitat suitability modeling. Results showed that euphotic depth was the most significant contributor, with potential fishing grounds mainly occurring along the Maharashtra coast during the post-monsoon season.

Species composition and spatio-temporal variation of bycatch from mid-water trawlers operating in the Arabian Sea along north-west coast of India

P. Abdul Azeez et al.

Summary: The study found that the bycatch caught by mid-water multiday trawlers along the northwest coast of India in the Arabian Sea is relatively high, with over 50% of the total catch consisting of bycatch. Monitoring and management efforts need to be strengthened to reduce the quantity of bycatch caught in this fishery.
